I saw that on someone’s facebook page. My only real disagreement is ‘pre-facist’; facist, plain and simple.
I don’t like what’s happening to the world. Since my only ways of doing anything about it are by raising awareness where I can and with a cross at the ballot box, I do what I can when I’m able. But I’m still not happy with the direction of travel, to use a horrible management-speak phrase.

I’m surprised, but in a pleasant way, at how many respondants share my opinion on voting, there’s not many political threads on here I can say that about!
If you can’t be arsed to walk/drive to your nearest primary school once every five years or at least apply for a postal vote in advance then frankly your opinion doesn’t count for much.
Having a small hurdle in the voting process is a kind of electoral Darwinism.

Slightly off topic, I do wonder about fish. Many see to die a horrible death, just being dragged out of the water and left to suffocate, and no-one ever seems to bother about fish. It’s a serious comment, I just wonder sometimes why no one ever complains about the way fish are caught/killed, or am I missing something.
@isac It’s something I’ve often wondered about. Like most living creatures fish have nerves, and when you see them gasping to breathe and convulsing, they certainly seem to be in distress.
Maybe because fish are such a valuable source of food it just suits us to “turn a blind eye”. I wonder if any research has ever been done on the distress we cause them? Could they be humanely killed? Electric shock or similar?
I’m talking about commercial fishing here. When I was a youngster we used to go sea angling, but we only caught enough to eat, other or undersize fish were thrown back in. Those we kept were quickly dispatched with a type of hammer known as a priest.

As each bet is independent of each other bet, why not start with the highest bet first and work down? Then, if you loose the highest bet, you don’t have to loose all the other ones to get there and you have halved your losses. Win and you don’t have to loose all the other bets either and come out richer.

Interesting. People seem to think they will live to 80, except people who are 80 who seem to think they will live 90.
I have had a couple of Cardiac arrests, defibs the whole gig, so faced death which altered my perspective, but its easy to slip back.

When faced with a Royal Mail delivery I look around for an alternate supplier who ships with DPD.
My many excperiences of DPD are all so consistently good I’ve been considering starting a thread about them – this is how deliveries should work. 2 attempts to deliver, you can set the day for both, notification of a time slot on the day, live tracking of the courier, free collection from one of many places of choice if the deliveries both fail, perfect record with “safe place” deliveries etc.

why should they?
@mo They left because the war made their country unsafe. Would people still leave if there wasn’t a war on ??
They make a home in their new host country, marry, have kids, why uproot them.
When the war is over (If it ever will be) and their country becomes safe again, surely they would want to return home. I think I would.

They want a safe life? Free life? Entitled brats…
…..And when it’s safe for them to return, how many go back home ??
